The Nonrebreather

Hi all!

So I initially did this ink on paper drawing for my wonderful friend Mary last summer in 2014:

So some background here: Mary LOVES Batman. We both finished up our EMT class together and her sister-in-law was about to have a baby. While her sister-in-law was in labor, the nurse tried to give her extra oxygen via a nonrebreather mask without prefilling the reservoir bag (you need to prefill the bag with oxygen, or else that patient is just breathing their own CO2), and Mary totally called her on it.  I thought it was absolutely hilarious, and had an epiphany for drawing a Batman-inspired comic version of the story. Recently, I decided to make a poster out of it for the EMT classroom, and so I re-did the piece in color on my computer with Sketchbook Pro:

Hope it makes you laugh! (And this goes without saying, but I obviously do not own anything Batman in any way, just using the idea for educational and/or humorous reference)

"Invincible"

This is a painting I recently completed for my good friend Courtney for her 30th birthday! I know she wasn't very thrilled about this milestone, and so I wanted to come up with something that illustrated how strong of a person she is and that she could handle anything. I started with her favorite flower (raspberry dahlia) and kinda went from there. I wanted it to be a painting that showed a transition or a big change, but that went along with the idea that no matter what happens, you can overcome overwhelming odds and flourish in the process.
